Irish Embassy Washington DC
Washington DC has always been a place close to my heart. It is a beautiful city – lots of green space, no tall buildings and fabulous museums but every time I visit I get the sense that anything is achievable there. Perhaps it is the omnipresence of power in the air or maybe I’ve binge watched The West Wing on far too many occasions. Anyhow, on April 5th I was both thrilled and terrified to have a night in my honour at the Irish Embassy which was co-hosted by the Irish Network DC. I spoke about the literary ties between Ireland and the US – ties that run as deep as our genealogical links – and then gave a reading. It was a wonderful night, the feedback was phenomenally positive and I hope to be a guest at the embassy again some time soon.
